We are different to other accountants

At Mann Judd Gordon we work much more closely with our clients than traditional accountants. We want to get to know our clients businesses inside out, enabling us to easily identify problems and spot opportunities. We want to help improve profits and encourage growth in all our clients, big and small. Our mission is to always add value. We run a very cost effective business by making the most of modern technology and our island location.

Background

The firm can trace its origins back to 1817 when the firm which was to become Mann Judd Gordon was founded in Glasgow. In 1975 a branch office was established in Stornoway, merging with the previously long established local firm Russ Ferguson Maclennan, itself a branch of a Glasgow firm.

In 1987 the Glasgow office merged with a larger national firm, and Mann Judd Gordon may be unique in being the only 'branch' to remain independent and retain an old established name on the 'disappearance' of the main office on a merger.

Between them, the three qualified accountants have over 50 years' experience of business, accountancy and taxation, and have built a practice which endeavours not only to ensure that all necessary action is taken to assist clients to comply with statutory accountancy and taxation requirements but also to develop, where possible, clients businesses to make them both profitable and enjoyable to run.

The aim is to give a very high level of service to all of our clients, irrespective of size. This will ensure that clients get our full attention and we are able to answer their questions quickly and comprehensively.

As well as general accountancy, audit and tax skills, our 3 qualified accountants also have individual specialist skills which enables us to provide clients with a first class service as and when required. With our wealth of experience we pride ourselves on delivering an unparalleled service to all clients, whatever their size or sector.

In addition to traditional auditing, accounting and tax services we also provide advice on how to improve and develop your business. Whether you need an integrated business strategy, access to corporate finance or specialist tax advice we are here to help you achieve your goals.

We invest in the most up to date technology to make the work involved as interesting as possible for our team, and to provide modern methods of dealing with compliance issues. We file approximately one thousand tax returns electronically every year.

Although not ourselves able to give independent financial advice, we can arrange for this to be made available for clients on request.

We are local agents for the Scottish Building Society, which is an old established conventional building society with branches and agencies throughout Scotland.
